Thinking of having a winter engagement session in Minneapolis or Saint Paul and are not sure what to do? Here is an example of what one couple did and it was fabulous!
Emily and Ben had a two-part engagement session (my favorite, especially for winter)! We started at Punch Bowl Social in Saint Louis Park and then moved to a nearby park for fun in the snow! This was a great way to make sure that we could keep our schedule with the unpredictable winter weather in Minnesota. It also gave them some variety in their images!
If you’re wanting a winter engagement session in a place like Minneapolis, here’s what I recommend:
Choose an indoor activity you like together – like getting drinks or going to a record store.
Similarly, choose an outdoor activity, like sledding, snowshoeing, or snowball fighting.
Once you have your activities, work with your photographer to find a place where you can achieve both relatively close to each other! Emily & Ben were able to stay in Saint Louis Park the whole time, which was great because it had snowed earlier that day and getting around was a little tough!
Of course, you’ll also want to keep warm! Wear whatever you want for the indoor part of your session. Then, when you’re headed outside, put on your boots and coat! I also bring hand warmers for my couples and it makes a huge difference! It’s also a good idea to bring a hat and some gloves or mittens that you like. If it ends up being a nice day, like 25-30F, you can leave them off. But if it’s colder or windy, you’ll definitely be happy you brought them!
