If you’re considering having your wedding at the Bakken Museum in Minneapolis, may I just say, HECK YEAH! Bakken Museum is a wonderful wedding venue with its old world museum and library vibes to its beautifully vibrant garden spaces, you’re sure to have a unique celebration!
I’d like to show you a portion of Meredith and Spencer’s wedding day in July 2022 to give you an idea of what your wedding might look like! Ready for a beautiful garden museum wedding? Here we go!
How the Day Went
Meredith and Spencer got ready separately at their parents’ house and a hotel, respectively. Since they weren’t getting ready in the same place, I went to meet Meredith at the beginning of their day, and my second photographer went to meet Spencer!
After everyone was all ready, we coordinated and met at Bakken Museum for their first look! If you’ve ever struggled deciding whether or not to have a first look, I’d highly recommend it! Like Meredith and Spencer, you’ll be able to do all of your formal photos before your guests arrive. That way you can party and spend time with all those people you invited!
After their first look, we rolled right into couples photos (and decided to take the braids out of Spencer’s hair). As you will see, their wedding was highly flower themed. I wanted to really highlight the garden aspects of the venue, and show off Meredith’s INCREDIBLE dress!
Group and Family Photo time!
Next, we met with the rainbow wedding party for some wedding party photography! This was also a great time to split with my second photographer to make sure we had enough time with both sides. I love capturing full group photos, individuals (formal and silly!). As well as some smaller groups that are meaningful to each partner.
Then, of course, we met their immediate families for family photos! This is a part of the day where efficiency is key! I worked with Meredith and Spencer ahead of time to build their family photo list, and arrange it in a way that we can get all the images needed, and also get everyone out as soon as possible. The quicker it is, the more fun we have!
After a break as guests filed in, it was finally time for their ceremony! With Grandma on the iPad as the flower girl we got them married! There were laughs, tears, gifts, singing, and SO MUCH LOVE.
Meredith & Spencer opted to have a receiving line to greet their guests on the other side of the museum after recessing. I thought was a really nice way to round out the ceremony since their reception was at the nearby Mill City Museum. What a beautiful experience!
We rounded out the time at Bakken with some photos with friends, in the garden after the chairs had been removed, the sun was a bit lower, and any nerves were absolutely gone ‘cause they did it!!
